Music always speaks volumes about the person listening. For some,
it's a form of expression. For many people, it's life. For Seth and myself,
it's somewhere in between. We both play instruments, he the guitar, I the piano,
and we both love music to no end, so the music for the wedding had to reflect
our feelings, our likes, ourselves.
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones:
I chose this soundtrack of all the Star Wars series because this movie deals
with the passionate love between Padme and Anakin Skywalker. The movie is beautiful,
yet somewhat bittersweet. Their relationship is not accepted by many people
(short of the audience) and it is a powerful union, in many ways. It's playful,
serious, symphonic, sorrowful, and beautiful. All these things encompass love
and, I feel, all relationships, especially between Seth and myself. There are
ups and downs, but overall it's a beautiful thing that tells a magnificent story.
Sinc eI first saw Star Wars, I knew I'd walk down the aisle to one of those
songs. Which one, I did not know. For the longest time, I thought it would be
the Throne Room Scene from A New Hope, but I used that at
my Quinceanera, and did not want to use it again. The song I chose "Love
Theme from Episode II - Across the Stars" has a variety of parts to it
(not unlike our personalities) a melodic introduction, war-song interludes,
playful parts, grandiose and emotional crescendos and diminuendos, but importantly,
an ending solo of a beautiful but mellow harp playing the theme as the inevitability
of the love settles into history. This was by far my favorite part of the song
and I knew I had to walk down the aisle to it.
Adore by
The Smashing Pumpkins: Seth actually
surprised me with this song. Amidst all the hustle and bustle, I did not
give a second thought to the recessional, and did what any frantic bride would:
handed it to the groom. So, while I was having pictures taken before the wedding,
he secretly handed the church technician the CD and told him to play song 1.
You see, while Seth and I were dating, we often went up to Flagstaff for Day
trips to look around, hang out, shop, fish, etc, and wanting to stay there as
long as possible, we often didn't leave until dusk. To keep awake, we'd play
CDs and the most frequently played was this album, which is actually Seth's
favorite SP album. So, when it played as we walked down the aisle, a whole flood
of memories came back to me and was the perfect ending to the perfect wedding
